My name is Deirdre O’Callaghan. I have always been known by my nickname, DeeDee. That is, of course, where the name of my shop came from.
I have two awesome sons, 22 and 27. My primary interests, aside from making jewelry, are music, football, the outdoors, fairies and motorcycles. These are all of the things that inspire my jewelry creations.
I am the daughter of an art historian and geologist which may explain my fascination with color and gemstones. In addition, both of my parents painted. Somehow I found my artistic outlet in making jewelry.
It all started with me envisioning a piece of jewelry for an outfit and ended with my frustration at not finding exactly what I envisioned. After a few failed attempts at finding what I wanted, I decided I was not going to settle for anything else so I took matters into my own hands!
I have slowly but surely increased my knowledge and my inventory in the course of about 20 years. It started with the simplest of supplies and making little projects with my boys, occasionally making a quick pair of earrings for a night out, making gifts for friends and family and now, having time on my hands, doing as much as I feel like and staying busy! There’s no reason to not make this a full time endeavor!
After a divorce and with my children grown, I have moved to the mountains where the inspiration is endless. I am in a good place with friends and family that are a source of motivation and support. There can’t possibly be any better time to do this!
I hope you enjoy my creations as much as I enjoy creating them.

Just some updates…
I started taking classes in Fall, 2013 to obtain a Graphic Design Technology degree! I’m going to work towards an A.A.S. and see where that takes me. It’s exciting though a little daunting. I was never good at school and the severe A.D.D. diagnosis though giving me reasons for what has made it so hard in the past, doesn’t help when I in the middle of struggling with schoolwork and time management. I’m doing it though. My GPA at the end of the 2013-2014 school year was 3.143… I am not complaining. I am, in fact, very proud of it! Considering the obstacles, pretty damn good!
I’m still living in the mountains with my boyfriend of four years who is still the most awesome guy ever. It’s so nice to not have to feel pressured constantly and fearful of someones reactions all the time. So many years of craziness but I guess that’s what it took to get me here. And, here I am.
I’m still making jewelry and have really focused in on Chainmaille jewelry. I love the look and I really enjoy making it too. Please take a look! www.etsy.com/shop/deevinedeesigns Help a starving student!!!!!
My boys are now 20 and 25. They are still awesome! One will be a Junior at George Mason University this fall studying Biology/Environmental Sciences and the other is studying for his certification as a Personal Trainer. Watch out world!
